Stand-alone Assessments

Stand-alone Assessments provide the ability to enrol a student into an Assessment Task without enrolling them in a mapped Qualification. 

Definition of terms used in Assessment Authoring:

Assessment Task - is the assessment tool or test that has one or more Assessment Items

Assessment Mode - is the method that the Assessor will use to assess a student. Examples include quiz, observation checklists and RPL

Assessment Item - is the generic term for an Assessment Task element such as a question, assessment criterion or activity

Section - creates a heading to group one or more Assessment Items within the Assessment Task

Adding a Stand-alone Assessment 

  1. Choose Assessments → Stand-alone Assessments

  2. Click Add Stand-alone Assessment. This will look similar to the following:

  1. Fill in the Assessment Details form as required, see Notes For Specific Fields for more information.

  2. Click Submit.

**Please Note: You cannot change the Assessment Task that the Stand-alone Assessment is linked to once the Stand-alone Assessment has been created and saved**

From this page you also have the ability to create an Assessment Task. To do this simply click Author New Assessment and this will open the Assessment Authoring page. Please see related topics to see how to Add an Assessment Task via the Assessment Authoring page. 

Update a Stand-alone Assessment 

  1. Choose Assessments → Stand-alone Assessments
  2. Click the Update icon  on right hand side of the page next to the desired Stand-alone Assessment you wish to edit.
  3. Fill in the Assessment Details form as required, see Notes For Specific Fields for more information.
  4. Click Submit. 

Notes For Specific Fields

 Assessment This field is where you select the already created Assessment Task that links to the Stand-alone Assessment that you are creating. 
ActiveIf this box is checked the Stand-alone Assessment will be created as an Active Assessment. If not checked it will be created as an Inactive Assessment. 
Default AssessorsThis field allows you to select a list of possible Assessors that are available. However, the actual Assessor will be assigned when enrolling the participant into the Stand-alone Assessment. 
Overview Available This field determines the default date that the Participant is given access to the Stand-alone Assessment Description. If no date is specified here, it will be available immediately. This field can be changed against an individual enrolment. 
Access Start DateThis field determines the default date and time that the Participant can completely access the Stand-alone Assessment including the Questions. If no date is specified here, it will be available immediately. This field can be changed against an individual enrolment. 
Due DateThis field determines the default date and time that the Participant must complete the Stand-alone Assessment. This field can be changed against an individual enrolment. 
Access End DateThis field determines the default date and time that the Participant can have access to the Stand-alone Assessment. If no date is specified here, it will be available indefinitely. This field can be changed against an individual enrolment. 
SubmitThe button will save the Stand-alone Assessment.

Enrolling a Participant into a Stand-alone Assessment

  1. Choose Assessments → Stand-alone Assessments.
  2. Click the Enrol icon  on right hand side of the page next to the desired Stand-alone Assessment you wish to enrol a Participant into. 
  3. Search and Select the contact that you wish to enrol. 
  4. Click Enrol Participant.
  5. Fill in the Enrol Participant into Assessment form as required, see Notes for Specific Fields - Enrolment for more information. 
  6. Click Add Enrolment.

Notes for Specific Fields - Enrolment

Field NameField Note
AssessmentThis field is the name of the Stand-alone Assessment.
ParticipantThis is the name of the Contact that you selected to enrol.
OrganisationThis field will only have content if the selected contact has a linked Organisation. It will be the Contact Organisation at the time of enrolment. 
New User NotificationIf this field is checked, a notification email will be sent to the selected contact with the generated Participant Portal Username and Password.
Max AttemptsThis field is used to determine how many attempts the selected Participant is allowed to attempt the Stand-alone Assessment. Once the number of attempts have been used the Participant will no longer be able to attempt the Stand-alone Assessment. 
Overview AvailableThis field determines the date and time that the Participant is given access to the Stand-alone Assessment Description. If no date is specified here, it will be available immediately. 
Access Start DateThis field determines the date and time that the Participant can completely access the Stand-alone Assessment including the Questions. If no date is specified here, it will be available immediately. 
Due DateThis field determines the date and time that the Participant must complete the Stand-alone Assessment. 
Access End DateThis field determines the date and time that the Participant can have access to the Stand-alone Assessment. If no date is specified here, it will be available indefinitely. 
AssessorThis field is where you would select the user you wish to mark this Stand-alone Assessment. 
Add Enrolment This button will save and complete the enrolment. It will then bring you to the Participant Assessment Results page for the selected Participant.
