Q. How much does the Online Assessments feature cost?

A. The Online Assessments feature is included as part of the aXcelerate Turbo version. For a feature comparison between aXcelerate Standard and aXcelerate Turbo, view our website page at:

Q. Can I use the Online Assessment feature with my existing aXcelerate Standard version?

A. Unfortunately, no. The Online Assessments feature is only available with aXcelerate Turbo.

Q. I'm an aXcelerate client, how can trial this feature?

A. You will need to request this feature to be turned on by our Support Team in your STAGING account by submitting a support request.  If you have submitted a request for this feature to be turned on, we will be turning on this new feature in your STAGING account on Thursday the 5th of October, 2017.

Q. I'm not an aXcelerate client, how can trial this feature?

A. Your friendly aXcelerate Sales Representative can organise a demonstration either onsite or via the web.

Q. I understand that there is a new Trainer/Assessor mobile app. What are the functions available with the app?

Q. Can I use the Trainer/Assessor App without having to pay extra for the aXcelerate Turbo version?

A. Unfortunately, no. The Trainer/Assessor App is only available with aXcelerate Turbo.

Q. How is the App available?

A. We have iOS and Android Apps for both tablet and smartphones available from the respective stores.

Q. Is there a limit as to how much assessment evidence data and files I am able to store in aXcelerate?

A. Yes. The first 100Gb of data and file storage in aXcelerate is free. After the first free 100Gb, clients will be charged at the rate of $100.00 plus GST per 200Gb of data storage used. Clients are able to monitor their data storage usage under their Account Statistics tab under System Settings.

Q. Can I use this for non-accredited Units of Competency?

A. Yes. You can add unmapped assessments to a Unit of Competency within a class. Currently the assessment plans will only allow you to add pre-mapped Units of Competency to build an assessment schedule. Future aXcelerate development will extend this functionality to non-accredited Units of Competency.

Q. What is the reason for the sections?

A. Sections allow you to group your Questions together under one or multiple categories (for example: Section 1: Leadership which contains two questions specifically relating to Leadership). Sections are more useful in larger Assessment Tasks to separate extensive lists of Questions however they can still be utilised in all Assessment Tasks. 

Q. Can you have the questions shuffle as well?

A. Answers option within a Quiz Item can be shuffled, however the Questions cannot be shuffled within an assessment. 

Q. Once an assessment is published, can they be edited?

A. Publishing an assessment locks all questions and sections. To edit the assessment the status can be changed back to Draft; only if there are no enrolments in the assessment.

Q. Can you create a report that you can display the mapped assessments all on one document/screen? How will it display when demonstration to an auditor?

A. Yes. There is a mapping reporting when you hover over the Qualifications. You can then view the assessments mapped to Units of Competency.

Q. So does this mean we can keep our clustered assessments and assign the assessment to multiple units?

A. Yes, that is correct! Regarding clustered assessments, the new assessment plans support the same functionality as our current assessments in aXcelerate, however the new features will have to be used to author the assessments and create the correct mappings.

Q. For trainees would we have to set up an individual assessment plan for each or could you edit the plan dates for each new individual trainee if you were offering the same units.

A. No, you do not have to create individual assessment plans. You can update the assessment plan at the class level (for all future enrolments) and you can also update the plan in the individual trainee enrolment.

Q. Does this mean that the student works at an assessment level and not at the unit level.  Meaning we can use clustered units because the mapping can connect it all?

A. Yes, you will now have the option for the student to work at the assessment level.

Q. Can you bulk update the scheduling of assessments?

A. When adding assessment plans to a class, you can update the scheduling for the assessments; this will then update the assessment for all future enrolments. The ability to update existing enrolments is a potential area for our future development plans.

Q. Do the multiple choice assessments automatically grade student’s answers? 

A. The multi-choice/single-choice quizzes can do automatic grading if all questions are one of these types

Q. How would scorm files appear to students?

A. SCORM files will appear under the eLearning Tab in the Learner Portal. These are required to be set up as usual and are free under the aXcelerate Turbo Version.

Q. I'm not sure, but it seemed as though a student could submit an observation assessment type. Is this correct? Can an assessment item be submitted only by the trainer/facilitator?

A. No. An observation type assessment can only be submitted by the trainer, however the student can upload evidence if the checkbox is selected at the assessment type. This is one of the primary purposes for the Trainer App. We anticipate that a trainer will take a tablet into the field and observe a student. They can then managing assessment submissions and feedback with attached evidence that can be captured by the device.

Q. Where do you view the model answers when marking?

A. The model answers along with the rating rubric for a question item can be found in the interface that the trainer users to assess an item.

Q. It appeared that you could mark an assessment that was not submitted as satisfactory, this could cause problems.

A. An assessment needs to be submitted before a trainer can provide a result and feedback.

Q. Can you bulk mark in assessments?

A. Yes. You can bulk mark an assessment for an individual student; or bulk mark for all students enrolled in an Observation Assessment Type.

Q. Is there a place to add Learning/ Training Material?

A. Learning/Training Material can still be added into the existing Resource Library. This Material can then be hyperlinked into a question, or displayed in the Learner Portal under Resources and within the Learner’s Enrolment.

Q. If performing an observation out of internet range, can it be marked and uploaded once back in range or does it require online access at all times?

A. The app can be used out of internet range (offline). When the trainer/assessor is back in range this can be updated. This was one of the features we demonstrated in the Q&A of the webinar.

Q. I note that the App links to the administrator side of aXcelerate. Is there an API that can achieve this as well?

A. Yes we have an extensively documented API that is available to our clients free of charge on the aXcelerate Turbo Version or available for a one-off fee on the aXcelerate Standard Version. For more information please refer to our features on our website.

Q.How do you edit an assessment after it has been published? You can put the assessment back to draft providing there are no enrolments but what if there are enrolments? Is there a way you can duplicate the assessment task and create a version 2?

A. You will be able to edit questions and assessments after they have been published and responded to. This process will involve duplicating/versioning these items so that historic data is maintained as a true reflection of what was assessed.
